Teacher tenure: a Fairfax schools firing case

The above is a case of another teacher sacrificed to No Child Left Behind induced fear.
My comment at WaPo:
Sounds like panic over no child left behind has hit new highs. Time for NCLB to be left behind. Funny that a federal government initiative to help the disadvantaged hits a teacher who the article tends to show was dedicated to her students.
NCLB leaves less room for experimentation with new approaches such as using the Peano Axioms in teaching basic math. At the following link I explain how a pair of number lines can be used to teach the addition identities used to define addition with the Peano Axioms.
This is the type of innovation that NCLB will block. Teaching the Peano Axioms is a way to inspire students that they can understand math instead of just do rote problems. This is what schools need the freedom to try instead of panicking over NCLB and federal mandates over tests.
We are likely to see many teachers fired for social considerations they have no control over. This will not help but will end up hurting education of the students we do have.
