Re: Lisa Gartner Thomas Jefferson HS adds summer classes, help sessions for struggling students

Lisa Gartner at the Washington Examiner writes:

Thomas Jefferson HS adds summer classes, help sessions for struggling students

This supports John Dell’s WaPo piece.

The article cites the letter already posted by this blog after it was kindly sent by an interested party.

Letter from Algebra 2/Trigonometry Professional Learning Community.

The following post compares the admissions test for TJ to the exit exams for Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.  This includes links to sample exams.

This blog advocates the view that the TJ admission test should have math problems that increase in difficulty beyond Algebra 2 into pre-calculus so that instead of 3000 passing the admissions exam, the top students in order can be taken.

==My comment at the Washington Examiner article:

Great article with an important scoop over the Post on this hot topic.

My blog had already posted the letter.  A link to the letter is at the following blog article.

My blog apparently is becoming the blog of record for the TJ Admissions Controversy.   Interested parties are welcome to send me material or to send guest blog articles.
