Sal Khan of Khan Academy was talking about the Prussian education system on TV today.
The role of Prussia in US education was discussed in my book on Peano Axioms released earlier this year.
It was also discussed at this blog, for example:
Khan claimed that the Prussian system was teacher lecture during class and not problem solving and not group work. Is this true? Or is it more Khan Science?
The press is the echo chamber of the second rate. Also of the copyist and the poor copyist. This is part of the reason we have so many problems in math education. We have the rule of the second rate which is upheld and praised by the second rate.
This starts with second raters at Stanford and works its way down.
